After a neutral 3-mile roll-out to warm up\, the race horn sends riders into Super Segment 1 at River Road. A 2-mile neutral transfer (including the one-lane Bulls Bridge crossing) separates Segment 1 from Segment 2\, which starts chip-timed on Schaghticoke Road. Results are based on your combined time across both super segments. Mega 29 + 39 mi\, Adventure 8 + 39 mi\, Soul 8 + 14 mi.What are the race categories?Separate Men’s and Women’s fields for each route (Mega\, Adventure\, Soul). Age groups: 19 & Under\, 20 to 29\, 30 to 39\, 40 to 49\, 50 to 59\, 60 to 69\, 70+. We reserve the right to combine age groups where sign-ups are light to keep fields competitive. What kind of bike do I need?A gravel bike with 38 to 40 mm tires (e.g. Panaracer GravelKing SK). Tubeless strongly recommended. Mountain bikes are welcome too. The unpaved sections are a mix of surfaces and can get rocky\, especially on the extra Mega miles. We do not recommend traditional road bikes or slick tires.Aid stations?Stocked aid stations along the course with hydration mix\, water\, GU gels and GU chews. The Outbound Macedonia Brook State Park aid station features fresh pancakes with real maple syrup. Can I transfer my registration?Transfer of registration credit can be made up to 14 days prior to the event for a nominal fee. From The Riders“JGGD 2025 – MEGA a wonderful day\, such a well mapped out event. Communication leading up to the event was great. I will continue to go to RSGA events. thank you!” Devin Ryser · Google review\, 5 stars“I recently attended my first Ready Set Go event (Jersey Gravel Grinder deux) and it was FREAKING AWESOME! RSG did a great job in all aspects of organizing and holding the event. The course itself was phenomenal\, a really great mix of road and gravel terrain through some beautiful parts of New Jersey. Aid stations were well stocked and placed perfectly at strategic points along the route.” Dean McCormick · Google review\, 5 starsRegister NowSince 2018Event HistoryFrom humble beginnings with 65 riders\, the event has grown in popularity with hundreds of riders now attending the spring and fall editions. New To Gravel? You’re Welcome Here. You do not have to be an elite racer to belong at Jersey Gravel Deux. The neutral portions between segments exist so you can recover\, regroup and ride with people\, not away from them. Soul at 35 miles is genuinely approachable for a first gravel event. Aid stations are stocked\, the course is marked\, support is on the road\, and nobody gets left out there. Ride your ride. What bike do I need?Gravel started with a bring what ya got attitude well before dedicated gravel bikes existed. So while a gravel bike is optimal\, feel free to bring a road bike with max width tires\, a hybrid\, a mountain bike or an ebike. We strive to be inclusive and provide a great experience for riders of all types\, abilities and gear. What tire size do you recommend? We recommend at least 38 mm tires. 40-45 mm is even better and gives you a great ride with traction and comfort.Do I need to race the segments?Racing the segments is up to you. It’s fun to sprint and challenge yourself\, but if you want to chill and enjoy that part of the ride that’s fine too.Can I ride with friends?Absolutely. In fact many riders make new riding buddies during our event. Are e-bikes allowed?Yes. Just let us know so we don’t mix your results with the other categories. What happens if I change distances? You can edit your entry in BikeReg to move up or down. If there’s a different cost\, the registration platform will simply charge you the difference. Gran Fondo With Timed SegmentsYour day is scored on the combined time of the timed segments\, not total ride time. Clear signage marks the Approach\, Start and End of each segment\, so you know exactly when to hammer and when to soft-pedal and chat. Racing them is entirely optional. GPS Segment TimingSegment times are captured by GPS through a dedicated timing app that riders will download before race day. We are finalizing the platform now and will post the app details and setup instructions here and by email. Timed segment locations will be shared with registered riders close to the event. Segments are short and punchy\, not long grinds. Marked & MappedArrow signs at every turn plus free access to our RideWithGPS event page with downloadable FIT and GPX files and visual and audio cues.
